Diving in a dry suit means being able to dive comfortably throughout the year and requires some additional knowledge and skills, for example, we control our buoyancy using the dry suit instead of the BCD.
The PADI Dry Suit Diver, is a speciality course that covers the theory and skills necessary for choosing, using and maintaining a dry suit. It is a useful course to enable you to dive in colder climates and some dive centres require a certification in dry suit diving before they will allow you to hire one.
The course involves completing the PADI Dry Suit Diver e-Learning and completing two knowledge reviews, going over the theory with your Instructor, an orientation to dry suits and confined water dive (pool) then two open water dives to practice the skills required for diving in a drysuit. We usually complete the orientation and pool session on the Saturday of our monthly pool training weekends. The two open water dives are completed on one day during our shore diving weekends at Loch Long.
This course costs £180 and includes the PADI Drysuit e-Learning, pool session, two dives in open water, equipment hire and certification. Transport is not included.
